Zavvi Isn’t Too Far Away
For those who haven’t heard of the one of the greatest science-fiction franchises of all time (have you been living on Tatooine?), Star Wars was created by visionary director George Lucas.
Set in a galaxy far, far away, the first film, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, landed in cinemas in 1977. Achieving enormous success, the franchise has since expanded to more movies, novels, comic books, video games, television series, and theme parks.
A New Hope was the first entry in the original trilogy and the starting point for the Skywalker Saga. The narrative follows Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), whose simple farming life is turned upside down when his aunt and uncle are brutally murdered by the Galactic Empire. ‘Old Ben’ Kenobi (Alex Guinness) takes Luke under his wing, teaching him to train with the Force.
Following the release of the first film, two more sequels were released to conclude the original trilogy: Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi (1983).
Decades later, the Star Wars franchise found even further success with the hit TV series The Mandalorian, which aired in 2019 on Disney+. The show was created by Jon Favreau and follows Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) as he attempts to protect a Force-sensitive child called Grogu.
