Slipknot are one of the biggest heavy metal bands in history. Made up of Shawn Crahan, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root, the band have been well known throughout the world as one of the most influential rock bands out there.
The band from Des Moines, Iowa was created in 1995 and had some lineup changes early on, but settled on nine members after a while. For more than a decade, those nine members rocked the world with their attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows.
The band have had some memorable performances, performing wearing unique, individual face masks and matching boiler suit uniforms since 1997. Shawn Crahan actually became quite known for his mask, adopting the name ‘Shawn the Clown’.
The bands’ albums, including Slipknot (1999), Iowa (2001), Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses (2004), All Hope Is Gone (2008), The Gray Chapter (2014) have been hugely popular and successful.
Some of their biggest songs have included Psychosocial, The Devil In I, Duality, Before I Forget, Snuff, and Wait And Bleed to name just a few. With over 30 million records sold worldwide, the band have certainly made a big splash in the music world.
