Suicide Squad (2016) is a film based on the characters from the DC Comics supervillain team of the same name. The team includes elite hitman Deadshot (Will Smith), clown-princess of crime Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), ex-gangster El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), the mutant Killer Croc (AdewaleAkinnuoye-Agbaje), opportunistic thief Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), trained killer Slipknot (Adam Beach) and archaeologist Dr June Moone (Cara Delevingne) - who is possessed by the witch Enchantress.
In the film, this group of dangerous, incarcerated criminals (labelled as Task Force X), are recruited by senior Government official Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), to become an expendable suicide squad that can execute dangerous, covert missions and save the world in the absence of Superman.
In order to prevent the villains from escaping, a nanite bomb is implanted in the neck of each member and they are offered reduced sentences in the maximum-security prison in which they are being kept. Meanwhile, the Joker (Jared Leto) hears of Harley’s situation and plans to rescue her- which greatly complicates the team’s mission.
Through the film, the uncontrollable shape-shifting Enchantress goes rogue and begins her plans to build an apocalypse machine and destroy the world. The team are assigned the mission of stopping Enchantress from achieving her deadly goal and save humanity.
