The film sees Ralph venture into Sugar Rush, a racing game featuring a young girl named Vanellope von Schweetz, who suffers from a technical ‘glitch’ that leaves her ostracized from her fellow racers. Ralph and Vanellope strike up an unlikely friendship and battle the evil King Candy, earn the respect of their fellow game characters and stop their games from being unplugged by Mr. Litwak (the owner of the arcade in which the games are played in the real world).
The sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) is set six years after the first film when Ralph and Vanellope travel into the Internet through the new WI-FI router in the arcade. The film follows Ralph and Vanellope’s journey into the internet on their search to find a replacement part for Sugar Rush after it was broken and unplugged. The pair must do all they can to save the game and avoid crashing the internet at the same time.
