The Rolling Stones are one of the longest-performing rock bands of all time, and have greatly influenced rock and roll throughout the decades.
The English rock band formed in London in 1962 and have since gone one to become music legends. The original lineup was made up of Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, and Ian Stewart. Over the years several members were replaced, and more recent members of the band include Ronnie Wood.
The band were a major part of the British Invasion of Bands in America through the ‘60s and achieved huge success globally and were at the forefront of the young and rebellious 1960’s music scene.
Their musical style is rooted in ‘60s rock and roll, psychedelic rock and blues, and have released over 30 studio albums since their self-titled debut album was released back in 1964. Some of their biggest albums include Sticky Fingers (1971), Exile on Main St. (1972), Let It Bleed (1969), Beggars Banquet (1968), andSome Girls (1978) among many others.
The band are not only known for their impressive discography, but also for their incredible live performances. The band played an epic half-time show at the Superbowl in 2006, and their North American Tour in the early 1970’s has gone down in rock history.
The Rolling Stones had many incredible concerts and tours, with four of the top five highest-grossing concert tours of all time under their belt. These includeVoodoo Lounge Tour(1994–1995), Bridges to Babylon Tour(1997–1998), Licks Tour (2002–2003) and A Bigger Bang(2005–2007).
They changed the sound of rock and roll forever and are amongst the Greatest Artists of All Time with estimated record sales of over 240 million. Their rebellious lyrics and punk attitude has meant that their legacy is ongoing. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and have since reigned as superstars in the music world.
