Since arriving on our screens back in 1999,
SpongeBob SquarePants has become a huge hit and a real icon of animated comedy.
Based in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom,
he gets involved in some truly hilarious adventures that result in
plenty of laughs and hours of entertainment.
Created by Stephen Hillenburg, this is one of the
best Nickelodeon shows around and over 20 years on from its pilot, we’re still
in stitches at this franchise.
This show goes from one bizarre situation to the
other featuring a combination of animation and real life footage to depict some
of the funny human behaviour which really compliments it nicely.
Mr. SquarePants is the main personality in this
show but there’s plenty of fantastic SpongeBob characters that make this show truly
one of a kind.
SpongeBob’s best friend and arguably the funniest
character around is Patrick Star, a starfish that lives under a rock and lacks
the IQ of some of his counterparts. He gets in some absolutely ridiculous
situations and provides so much comedy. They’re often joined by SS’ pet Gary,
who despite being a snail, meows like a cat.
The trio love having fun together, much to the
annoyance of their neighbour Squidward Tentacles. He lives in between the pair
of them and it’s fair to say that he’s not too keen on it, which leads to
various meltdowns and rages – which again makes for pretty hilarious viewing.
Not to mention that he also works with SS at the Krusty Krab.
The KK is one of the most viewed places in the
show, owned by (Eugene) Mr Krabbs, he employs both Squidward and SpongeBob
SquarePants & between them they somehow run a fast food restaurant –
with the latter absolutely loving working there and even doing it for free on
occasion. Which the penny pinching Krabbs can’t get enough of!
But it isn’t your standard workplace. There they
produce the world famous Krabby Patties which is created from a secret formula,
one which fast food rival Plankton of the Chum Bucket is trying to steal almost
every day. And despite him having some crazy technology and inventions, he’s
yet to take it.
Other SpongeBob characters include Sandy Cheeks the
squirrel who lives underwater in her treedome, Mrs Puff the driving instructor,
Larry the Lobster, Karen (Plankton’s computer wife), the Flying Dutchman and
many more.
They’re a real quirky but fantastic set of
personalities that provide stacks of entertainment, so it’s no surprise to see
that there’s been over 250 SpongeBob episodes.
