Established in 2000, the American-based Blumhouse Productions is a film and television series production company, which was named for its founder: Jason Blum.
Since the release of 2007’s Paranormal Activity, which was created for a minute $15,000 and grossed more than $193 million during its theatrical run, their principal strategy has involved producing films on a relatively small budget, encouraging directorial independence, and facilitating a wide release.
Further examples of this strategy can be seen with the films Insidious and Sinister, made for $1.5 million and $3 million, respectively. Both of these films made just short of $100 million worldwide, granting huge profit margins.
Horror And Drama
They are known primarily for their many low-budget horror films, having established their own Haunted Movies division in 2010. Some of their most notable horror releases include the aforementioned Insidious and Sinister, Paranormal Activity, The Purge, Oculus, The Gift, Split, Get Out, Happy Death Day, Upgrade, Halloween, and The Invisible Man.
